Fire Protection Applications

Penetration Seal Systems

These are systems for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, sprinkler, signal cables, structural steel and other penetrations. Manufacturer products are tested to ASTM E814 and UL 1479 for 1, 2, 3 and 4 hour ratings. A complete firestop line includes silicone sealants (self leveling and trowel grade), water-based intumescent caulk, putty, wrapstrip, restricting collar, plastic pipe devices, compound, pillows, composite sheet and MCT (multi-cable transit).

Construction Joint Systems

These are systems for masonry and drywall top of wall joints, wall and floor construction, expansion joints, and slab edge or curtain wall joints. Manufacturer products are tested to ASTM E814 and UL 2079 for 1 to 4 hour ratings. Firestop materials include silicone sealants (self leveling and trowel grade), water-based intumescent caulk and brush or spray applied water-based intumescent coatings. SPI also provides FirePlugs®, FireStrips™ and other precut mineral fiber shapes to fit fluted deck profiles, straight joints for top of wall and slab edge construction.

Noncombustible Sealants

Manufacturer products are tested to ASTM-E136 for non-combustibility as required by CABO and BOCA codes for residential one and two family wood frame construction applications.

Kitchen Exhaust Duct Systems

Manufacturer products are tested to ASTM E119, UL 263 and UL 1978 and include high temperature flexible blanket materials in unfaced, faced one side or totally encapsulated form. The wrap system is applied directly to the duct. A rigid board system is also available.

HVAC Duct Systems

Manufacturer products are tested to ASTM E119, UL 263 and include high temperature flexible blanket wrapped directly to the duct for 1 and 2 hour ratings. A rigid board system is also available. Other applications include trash and laundry chutes and a complete line of fire, fire/smoke, control and ceiling radiation dampers.

PVC Pipe/Return Air Plenum Protection

Manufacturer products are tested to UL and ASTM standards to reduce flame spread and smoke development of pvc pipe or other combustible materials in return air plenums.

Cable Tray and Conduit Protection Systems

Manufacturer products are tested to UL and FM standards and include water-based elastomeric intumescent coatings, which are spray or brush applied and provide a fire retardant finish. Also, high temperature blanket or board materials are available to provide a 1 or 2 hour rated enclosure.

Structural Steel Fireproofing Systems

Manufacturer products are tested to ASTM E119, UL 263, UL 1479 and 1709 for interior and exterior structural fireproofing applications of structural steel members, decking, tanks and vessels. Application materials include lightweight insulation board and flexible wrap materials as well as traditional spray and trowel applied materials.

Access Doors; Fire Extinguisher and Valve Cabinets; Fire and Smoke Dampers

include a full line of standard and fire rated access doors; fire extinguisher and valve cabinets; and fire and smoke dampers.

Fire Retardant Coatings

include a full line of fire retardant coatings useful in reducing the flammability of woods, fabrics and textiles.
