Mineral Wool Sound Attenuation Fire Blanket Insulation

Thermafiber® Sound Attenuation Fire Blankets are manufactured from slag, a byproduct of iron ore reduction, and naturally occurring rock. Because of this composition, Thermafiber® Blankets are highly resistant to fire. Thus many of the systems this product is used in have high fire ratings as well as sound ratings.  The high density of Thermafiber® SAFBs makes them resist sagging and stand up better in stud cavities.  Mineral Wool products enhance fire protection which adds to fire performance of many assemblies.  The efficient sound performance of Mineral Wool adds STCs to wall and floor-ceiling sound ratings and can be used in acoustical ceilings as overlayment to reduce flanking sound.

THERMAFIBER FireSpan products are designed to provide life saving fire protection in curtain wall and perimeter fire containment systems. These products are noncombustible, moisture-resistant, noncorrosive, nondeteriorating, mildew-proof and vermin-proof. FireSpan 90 provides thermal insulation, fire protection, acoustical and vapor control in many different fire containment assemblies of 1, 2, and 3-hr ratings.  FireSpan products should be mechanically attached to horizontal and vertical mullions with architect approved insulation fasteners. Reinforce FireSpan on the outer insulation surface at the safing line. Typical reinforcement members include hat channels, “L” angles, and “T” bars. Thermafiber’s patented Impasse system is designed to quickly and easily mechanically attach FireSpan insulation to curtain wall systems.

Mineral Wool Head-of-Wall Insulation

Thermafiber® TopStop™ Head-of-Wall Insulation is high-density mineral fiber insulation that has been shaped to fit the trapezoidal flutes typical of metal or concrete decking. The composition of these specialized insulation boards matches that of the Thermafiber Safing Insulation commonly called for in UL or OPL approved head-of-wall constructions. Insulation used for TopStop is UL and OPL Classified, and is approved for use in designs that otherwise call for Safing Insulation. Available in three common sizes of trapezoidal shaped boards, as well as standard forming strips, TopStop Insulation speeds the installation of floor-to-ceiling/roof deck firewalls.

DOW Styrofoam™ Insulation Board
Polyisocyanurate Insulation

Rmax Thermasheath® is a rigid foam plastic thermal insulation board composed of polyisocyanurate foam bonded to reinforced aluminum foil facers on each side. This sheathing insulation is suitable for use in walls and some limited roofing applications in new commercial, residential, agricultural, and industrial buildings and in thermal retrofit construction within existing buildings.  Rmax TSX-8500 is a rigid foam plastic thermal insulation board composed of polyisocyanurate foam bonded to glass fiber reinforced aluminum foil facers.  TSX-8500 is approved for exposed applications and features a heavy 1.5 mil aluminum foil facer reinforced with glass fibers.  Polyisocyanurate insulation offers the equivalant R-value of other insulations at a reduced thickness.  Typical applications include vaulted ceilings, stud wall construction, cavity wall construction and other applications where available space is limited.

Expanded Polystyrene Insulation

Insulfoam insulation products are available in custom and pre-cut forms for virtually every construction purpose, including commercial, industrial and residential roofing, wall/sheathing systems, OEM garage door manufacturers, foundation and slab insulation and numerous other building and geo-fill applications.  EPS insulation offers the best combination of initial cost, ease of installation and durability.  Insulfoam insulation products have a stable R-value which means there is no thermal drift or loss of insulating capability.  Insulfoam insulation products are formaldehyde free and contain no ozone-depleting CFC's or HFC's.  InsulFoam is also 100% recyclable.  InsulFoam does not readily absorb moisture from the atmosphere and does not promote migration of moisture into the insulation.

Metal Building / Pole Barn Insulation

Metal buildings are traditionally insulated by a metal building erector with rolls of glass fiber insulation laminated to a flexible vapor retarder facing. These rolls are draped over the metal building frame with the vapor retarder towards the interior and then a metal skin is put on the outside which encloses the insulation and structure.  NIA Certified Faced Insulation® installed in a metal building helps prevent condensation from forming on the interior walls by keeping air temperature above the dew point.
